DETAILED PROGRAMME
Day 1: Arrive Dharamshala
Arrive Dharamshala airport, meet on arrival and transfer to hotel. Mc Leodganj is also home to the Tibetan refugee community and is home to His Holiness The Dalai Lama. Afternoon we get introduced to our companion of our adventure The Royal Enfield bike. Today we take you on a familiarisation ride around Dharamshala, we visit Norbulingka Institute, Karmapa monastery, St Johns Church in the Wilderness and Dalai Lama temple. We spend our evening walking around the colourful Mc Leodganj market. Overnight at hotel.
Day 2: Dharamshala/ Chamba (190 kms/6 hrs)
After breakfast we start our ride down the Kangra Valley and then meandering our route up through mountains and villages to reach the lovely town of Chamba. Chamba was once a principality and has a rich culture. At Chamba we check in at hotel and later visit Laxmi Narayan temple and walk around the market and lanes of the town. Overnight at hotel.
Day 3: Chamba/ Sach Pass/ Killar (160 kms/8 hrs)
Early in the morning we start our ride towards Pangi Valley. We ride up the valley crossing Tissa, Bairagarh and many small villages. Approach to Sach Pass is beautiful and specially in July August monsoon months the slopes of its meadows is lined with numerous Himalayan flowers. We cross Sach Pass 4414 m connects Chamba to Pangi Valley. The ascend down to Killar can be treacherous at some points and this ride till about tomorrows afternoon would be among the most dangerous in terms of sheer height of fall down to fast flowing Chandra Bhaga river. Pangi is a remote valley tucked inside Himalayas and still remain untouched and infrastructure here is basic. We spend our night in a basic guest house.
Day 4: Killar/ Udaipur/ Jispa (150 kms/ 6 hrs)
An exciting ride awaits us today. We ride on a road built by cutting across a cliff and this road is also famously known as The Death Road among travellers. We ride to Udaipur where we visit the beautiful wooden temple Mrikula Devi Temple and continue our ride to Keylong, the main town of Lahaul valley. We take the main Leh highway crossing Stingri and Gemur villages to reach Jispa and check in at camp for overnight stay.
Day 5: Jispa/ Shinku La/ Padum (160 kms/ 8 hrs)
Today we start our ride to enter Zanskar valley. We ride to cross Shinku La 5091 m and descend down to the valley floor surrounded by towering mountains. We ride along the Zanskar river crossing several tiny villages to reach Purne and from here further to reach Padum by evening. The ride today involves riding in a narrow valley with towering mountains on both sides with enchanting views. On arrival and check in at hotel.
Day 6: Padum/ Sirsir La/ Lamayuru (160 kms/ 8 hrs)
An absolute fantastic ride with excellent views of mountain passes. Its going to be a day of roller coaster ride across Zanskar region, climbing up & down, criss crossing mountains and high passes, viz Zang La, Singe La 4200 m, Sirsir La 4800 m, Hanupatta & Wanla villages to finally reach Lamayuru. One of the most important and largest monastery of Ladakh region Lamayuru located on Srinagar highway. We check in for overnight stay at Lamayuru.
Day 7: Lamayuru/ Leh (150 kms/ 5 hrs)
After breakfast visit the monastery, which is built on a hill slope and has a beautiful statue of Avalokiteshwara, God with thousand arms. Later we start our ride passinga across Sham valley to reach the town on Leh. Check in at hotel. Rest of day is free to walk around the town, explore the colorful market or visit Leh Palace. Overnight in hotel.
Day 8: In Leh
Today is a day free to relax and unwind at your own pace. You may rest or walk around the town or choose among many options available for touring around like visiting a few of famous monasteries like Hemis & Thiksey or excursion to Khardung La which at an altitude of 5600 m is gateway to Nubra valley. Overnighta at hotel.
Day 9: Leh/ Tanglang La/ Sarchu (250 kms/ 7 hrs)
Today we take you on yet another spell binding ride. We ride the Indus valley till Upshi from where we start scaling up towards Tanglang La (5328 m) and then entering the Pang plains, riding across the vast plain and then crossing over Lachung La (5059 m) and Nakila (4750 m) mountain passes to enter & end the days ride at Sarchu. On arrival check in and overnight in tents.
Day 10: Sarchu/ Atal Tunnel/ Manali (175 kms/ 5 hrs)
After breakfast we start our ride crossing Baralacha La Pass at 4800 m to enter Lahaiul valley. We ride crossing several villages of Lahaul valley like Jispa, Keylong, Tandi, Gondla, Sissu and crossing Atal Rohtang Tunnel which at 3000 m is longest tunnel in World above this altitude. We enter Sollang Valley from where we ride to our hotel in Manali. Rest of day free to explore the sights around like Hadimba Devi temple, old Manali village or enjoy café hoping. Overnight at hotel.
Day 11: Manali/ Tirthan (110 kms/ 3 - 4 hrs)
Morning after breakfast we start our ride to another hidden valley. We ride to Naggar which in old times was capital of Kullu kingdown and visit more than 500 yrs old Naggar Castle. We continue our ride down Kullu valley on NH 2 crossing Kullu town and after crossing tunnel at Aut, we turn to enter Tirthan valley. We ride along Tirthan river entering the valley to our abode by the river bank. Enjoy the gurgling river or ride further deeper into Tirthan valley to explore its scenic views and villages. Overnight at guest house.
Day 12: Tirthan/ Dharamshala (165 kms/ 6 hrs)
We start our ride in morning riding by the river Tirthan back to Aut from where we take the NH 2 to Mandi town and we ride crossing villages and winding roads towards Dharamshala, visiting the beautiful centuries old Vaidyanath Temple at Baijnath, crossing tea gardens. On arrival check in and overnight at hotel.
Day 13: Depart Dharamshala
Intime transfer to Gaggal airport to connect your flight back to Delhi. Or you may take an overnight Volvo coach back to Delhi.
